Item Description
Through expert use of color, cover artist Dick Sprang subtly reinforced the idea that Robin is actually at the center of the action. Notice that Robin is not in costume; instead, he is wearing a yellow sweater and green plaid pants. Combine those two colors with the heavy red of the background and you have the essence of Robin’s costume. Since by the time of this book’s publication in 1946, both Batman and Robin were well known icons, they could almost be distilled to their simplest elements and the public would still know what was going on. On the right side of the desk there appears to be part of what Robin has written and if you look closely, it clearly resembles a script of some sort. Maybe Robin is writing his own comic or a screenplay? Either way, he has clearly created problems for the criminal behind him without even leaving his desk. The book features art by Ray Burnley. The pages are off-white to white. The book is CGC-certified VF- 7.5. The book also contains a Catwoman story. In it she appears in a new costume without her trademark cat’s head mask.
