Item Description
Early Batman covers are some of the most visually inventive covers ever done. This wonderful cover by Win Mortimer goes a long way to proving this idea. In this issue, Batman and Robin are either breaking into or out of jail. There is no way to really tell without reading the book. The yellow beam of the spotlight cuts across both of their figures and it only serves to heighten the sense of mystery regarding the surroundings. The entire image comes together to serve the impression of Batman as a creature of mystery. Others that contributed to this issue include artists Dick Sprang and Charles Paris and featured writer Don Cameron. This issue is also notable for an appearance by the Joker and there is also a time-travel story. The pages are off-white to white. The book is CGC-certified VF- 7.5. There are only two copies recorded in the CGC census with a higher grade than this issue.
