Item Description
Flash Comics is one of the cornerstone titles of comic history. Few titles have the rich supporting features that the Flash did. From the very first issue he shared the book with Hawkman. Starting with issue #6, the two heroes alternated covers. This stand out cover features both Hawkman and Hawkgirl as they are menaced by “The Foil.” This is the Foil’s first appearance. The cover was drawn by Everett Raymond Kinstler who also contributed interior art. After his start in comics, Kinstler went on to become one of the most respected portrait artists in America. He painted five Presidents including the official White House Portraits of Ford and Reagan. Collectors know that finding such a good looking example of his early work is a real find, especially when Kinstler has done a cover like this one. Other artists who worked on this issue include E.E. Hibbard and Chuck Kozlak. Hibbard started drawing The Flash with issue #3 and is the artist who is most closely identified with the Golden Age character. The writing of Robert Kanigher is also featured. The Black Canary, who made her second appearance inside this issue, proved to be as enduring as the Flash and Hawkman. Today her daughter teams with Batgirl in Birds of Prey. The book is CGC-certified VF- 7.5 by CGC. It has light tan to off-white pages. According to the CGC census, there are only two copies of this issue with higher grades.
