Item Description
4.5x6" illustrated tissue paper envelope contains complete and unused set of 12 stiff paper sheets called "placas de cromos" which translates to "sticker plates." Envelope dated 1942 and also notes this is "Series 14." Text on back of envelope explains this interesting mix of characters. Text mentions "Opera Mundi" which syndicated comics to papers throughout western Europe and acted as an agent for Disney, also handling Popeye and Fleischer Studios. Opera Mundi founder Paul Winkler was a close friend of Walt Disney and thus had permission to sub-license the characters to others for certain promotions. Each sheet has six different die-cut pictures held together by tabs but ultimately meant to be separated. Each sheet tells a story in these 6 scenes. Although called "stickers," backs do not have any adhesive. There are 6 different sheets plus 6 duplicates. Featured characters include Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Donald, Horace and Clarabelle, Three Little Pigs and Big Bad Wolf, Betty Boop, Popeye with Olive Oyl, Wimpy and Bluto. All of these characters are featured in a group scene on the envelope. Envelope has light handling wear, VF while all sheets are unused and Mint. Choice color and great art.
