Item Description
Tin litho toy has 7.5" dia. base by 4.5" tall. Made in Argentina, late 1950s. Illustrated box shows toy on top plus children playing with the toy on the sides. Box has moderate wear including color rubs on one side showing toy, the other side has numerous creases and several tears extending from the edge into the middle. One end flap is loose but present. Overall box VG. Toy has colorful base marked "Super Calidad, Rodados Brillo Industria Argentina." Base of toy has spiral brick design and attached to this are a pair of three-dimensional sentry outposts with soldier illustrations and a larger base with stone and mortar design. Attached to this is elaborate launching cap-firing mechanism. Vinyl projectile is present. Cap is loaded into the aluminum cylinder on the base and handle is moved until cap fires and rocket is released. Base has light wear with most evident wear on the painted tin roofs of one of the sentry boxes. Overall Fine. An interesting and funky toy from the Space Race/Cold War period.
