Item Description
12.5" tall painted tin with tin litho "Face," plastic dome and rubber hands. By Showa, Japan 1950s. Colorful box has great design with different scenes on lid and all 4 sides including one of Robbie Space Patrol type vehicle moving along a planet's surface. Box lid has some creasing, a 3.5" tear in lower right corner which has been glued. Still displays Fine. Toy works and walks forward as pistons and lights operate inside the clear plastic dome. Arms are manually adjustable, rubber hands are still pliable. Toy is also nicely accented with plated parts including antenna, side head frills and switchplate. Toy was opened for repair at one time and has 3 missing tabs from the 6 that hold the one body side strip in place, but body remains structurally sound, and does not effect display. Has scattered pinpoint paint wear with a little more wear evident along edges of battery door on leg. Plastic dome has 1 or 2 light scratches. Still a nice toy depicting the famous Robbie the Robot from "Forbidden Planet". Fine.
