Item Description
24" tall when seated. c. 1930s. Well designed cardboard standee acts as shelf sitter. Front legs hang down over shelf up to knees. Front portion is attached to 2.5" deep recessed area that forms the rest of the body. The standee back attached to the body allows Charlie to sit upright. This recessed area is deep enough for a bag of coffee to be displayed in his lap. The coffee bag seen under his arm can be folded back and replaced with a real bag of coffee if desired. Above left thumb is addtional signing including never marked price circle area. Also in this area is insert sign within a sign promoting "Chase and Sanborn Hour" radio show. There is a .5" crease between thumb and signs in this area. Diagonal crease appears from upper right hat brim to cheek. Creases at shoulder/elbow by coffee bag. Few color rubs. Light aging. Despite condition issues, this well-made, well-designed display piece is rare. First we've seen. An exciting 1930s character endorsement/product display. Overall Fine. From the Tomart Archives and comes with COA signed by Tom Tumbusch and Ted Hake.
