Item Description
17.5x17.75" professionally framed and matted display contains bw photo image of famed New York Yankees slugger Charlie "King Kong" Keller. Name plate appears below photo. Also matted is postcard (mounted so back is visible) that reads "Dear Bert, Thanks A Lot For Your Xmas Card - Good Luck In 50. Your Friend, Charlie Keller." Also matted is card addressed to same man which reads "Dear Bert, Was Glad To Hear From You - Hope School Is Going All Right. No My Stuff Hasn't Come As Yet But I Recently Dropped Pete A Card And Asked Him To Mail It. We Are All Well And I Am Certainly Enjoying Myself. Best Of Luck Always And Thanks Again For Your Many Favors, Sincerely, Charlie." Both postcard and note are presumed to have been written c. 1950 around the time Keller was released by the Yankees. Both postcard and note are lightly aged but Exc. Mat is New York Yankees pinstripe accent which is a bit dusty. Keller is best known for becoming the first rookie to hit 2 home runs in the World Series game in 1939 against the Cincinnati Reds. Fine/VF display. Comes with Hake's COA.
