Item Description
Pair, each 5.5x8.75". These tablets are the first domestic and most likely first worldwide pieces of licensed Mickey Mouse merchandise produced. The deal to produce these tablets was cut in 1929, one of the two bears a 1930 copyright "Walter E. Disney" while the other simply has "Walt Disney" copyright with no year. One features Mickey holding an apple and reading a history book. This is incomplete, cover and 20 sheets only, other pages and cardboard backing missing. Additional moderate wear/aging including pencil touch-up to Mickey's hand. Second is nearly complete tablet (just a few sheets missing) with cardboard backing. This depicts Mickey Mouse rollerskating. Obvious cover wear and aging with inked name and address at bottom margin. Both just Good but rarely seen. From the Deak Stagemyer Collection.
