Item Description
14x17" artboard has 13.5x14" image area done in pen and ink with watercolors by Marc Davis, one of Disney's "Nine Old Men." Scene depicts carousing pirate holding woman who wears his plumed pirate hat. Pirate also holds rope in hand which is tied around waist of another woman who does not appear happy now that she's not receiving the pirate's undivided attention. Concept art was for ride attraction that the Disney Imagineers designed featuring innovations achieved at Disney's pavilion at the 1964-1965 New York World's Fair. The familiar boat ride with animatronic pirate figures opened at Disneyland on Mar. 18, 1967 and was the last Disneyland attraction whose planning was personally overseen by Walt Disney before his death. Pin holes at corners. Margins have light aging/handling wear but art areas remain clean and Exc. Great detailed scene.
