Item Description
7-1/8x19.5" and 8x19.5" strips have been taped together to form 13-1/8x19.5", 12-panel comic strip that ran Sep. 12, 1937. Done in bw India ink. Dagwood is upstairs shaving and Blondie is baking delicate angel food cake. Blondie receives phone call for Dagwood and in his absence, Baby Dumpling takes Daisy upstairs to shave her whiskers as well, applying shaving soap and then showing Daisy her reflection in mirror causing her to run off, past Dagwood, who screams "Mad Dog!" and chases her out of the house causing Blondie's angel food cake to deflate. Panel ends with Dagwood sitting outside beside garbage can with scowl on his face as Baby Dumpling and Daisy approach, Baby Dumpling saying "Why Don'tcha Come In The House, Daddy? Daisy's Not Mad" to which Dagwood answers "But Mama Is!" Signed in last panel by artist creator Chic Young. King Features Syndicate Inc. paste-on along bottom left-hand panel of second sheet. Blue pencil production notation at left-hand side of top strip. Two .25" areas of staining to bottom strip with light aging at margins. VF.
