Auction #196 - Part I
Item numbers 1 though 975 in auction 196
Item Description
4.75" dia. by nearly .5" thick with brass anchor and suspension loop on back. Made of black thermo-plastic material much like 19th century gutta percha or later 1930s era bakelite. Text surrounds slightly recessed bkg. area that surrounds very high relief detailed portrait of him accented by leaf and berry designs left and right. Tiny text at bottom of portrait reads "S. Guenardeau 1919." Trivial 1/16" flake off rim at 4 o'clock barely noticeable and rest is essentially Mint. Very striking. A quality made piece from a collection of a Wilson specialist and the only example we've seen. Likely produced to celebrate the end of WWI.
