Item Description
The item measures 1-3/8x1-5/8" with movable loop along the top edge. This is the most desirable image from a set picturing prominent American and political leaders published by Abbott around 1862. The reverse pink cardboard reads "Abraham Lincoln. President Of The United States. Firm To Maintain And Defend The Union." Because this is a fairly large size tintype and protected by only a low-relief brass frame, these pieces often suffer much surface wear and quite frequently the label from the reverse and/or the loop from the top edge are damaged or completely missing. This example has an extremely shallow tiny indent mark on the lower left edge of his jacket but this is exceptionally minor and the rest of the emulsion is virtually flawless. The brass edge is somewhat dark but with nice luster highlights. The best Lincoln example from this series that we've seen.
