Item Description
3" tall heavy and well-made brass badge with blue enamel surrounding the state name "California" on the hanger. Chain links hold octagonal brass showing eagle and shield at center. Inner circular text reads "United States Of America Fifty Dolls." Outer text reads "Imitation Of Famous California Fifty Dollar Gold Slug, Used By The Pioneers 1850." Reverse text of this piece reads "California Delegation To The National Progressive Convention Chicago 1916" with name of maker Irvine & Jachens. Scattered tarnish on the back of the hanger bar but the octagonal piece has just two faint trivial tarnish dots and otherwise luster is brilliant and Exc. Very limited in issue.
