Item Description
This gorgeous and rare large 1.75" jugate is the button which was photographed for the Hake book. The centering, coloring and gloss are flawless although barely visible in reflected light are almost imperceptible craze lines. Under magnification, the crazed areas are the upper left quadrant, the length of Liberty's body and the lower right quadrant. While the crazing is certainly significant it takes careful study to see any evidence of it even in reflected light. One of the most beautiful jugates which includes rwb shield behind Liberty's head and with her depicted with a hand at the top of each oval as she presents the candidates. No maker's name and no backpaper although this is the only example we have ever seen and do not know if it came with a backpaper. Rare.
