Item Description
7/8" reads "Remember The Legations/'To H--- With The Chinese!'" Against a design with Asiatic characteristics, an animated Chinese man is posed depicted with flying pigtails and long dagger-like fingernails. The text refers to the two-month siege during December of 1900 in Peking by the Boxers of the diplomatic missions of the European nations, the United States and Japan. At the end of the 'Boxer Rebellion,' China was forced to accept humiliating concessions and punitive reparations. The only button we know of to reference this event. Couple tiny age dots on extreme rim edge, largely just visible under magnification. Reverse has tin cover with vertical stickpin. No maker's name. Hake book Collectible Pin-Back Buttons photo example Social Causes section #20. Comes with Hake's COA. Overall condition is VF but displays N. Mint. Only example known to us. See following item.
