Item Description
This early movie serial titled "The Yellow Menace" is from 1916 and is 7/8" with fierce dragon encircling the movie title text. Barely visible tiny dot of stain on rim and pinpoint rub both of which barely show at all without magnification. Reverse has backpaper by Ehrman of Boston. Directed by William Steiner and released by Serial Film Co. (Unity Sales). The movie focused on the Mongolian scientist Ali Singh, a brutal racial zealot who arrives in the United States to lead his followers in their efforts to overcome the supremacy of the whites. The plot involves an international banker who backs a bill in the United States to exclude all non-whites from American shores. The Secret Service joins the cause and battles the Mongolian to defeat and death. While race issues were the main focus, this serial was one of several during the WWI era that warned the public of the dangers of neutrality and apathy to what might be going on outside the U.S. borders at the very time they were watching the action on their movie screens.
