Item Description
13x16x3.5" deep exceptional box originally contained elaborate set of aluminum "Toys That Really Cook." 1930s. This company made a number of different boxed sets (this same box was used for the different sets) including tea set, baking set, coffee maker set, etc. These sets are thoroughly detailed in two-page spread in the 1935 merchandise catalogue we are offering as item #1750. This is the box only, no insert or contents. Lid has die-cut design with large depiction of Mickey pointing to a teapot that bears his image. Below this are images of him, Minnie, Goofy, Horace, Clarabelle and Pluto dining and drinking tea. Additional character and related images appear on 4 side panels. Entire interior surface of lid has neatly-applied reinforcement. Outside of lid has four 2" to 3.5" tears neatly repaired by the reinforcement. Additional scattered wear and aging but remains tight. Fine. A rare and graphic box.
