Item Description
3.5x7x4.25" tall tin litho toy w/ built-in key. c. 1923. Marked "Made In Germany." Toy is a flatbed truck driven by the "Skipper" (who is missing) and on back is the rather large Aunt Eppie Hogg, "Eppie Hogg" printed across the bottom front edge of her dress. Toy has unique action - as truck travels around, Eppie begins to "slide off" the back to the point where she causes the truck's front end to raise into the air. She then slides back on and the truck levels off and continues on. Front axle can be positioned to steer either straight or in a circle. Works well. Toy has scattered darkening to the paint. Eppie figure has scattered color rubs to arms, and facing half of figure shows more darkening than back. VG. Truck shows light paint wear, mostly to wheels. Fine. Rarest of the comic character wind-up toys, less than 10 examples exist, of these only a few still have the "Skipper" figure.
