Item Description
9.5x12" sheet of animation paper with 2 peg holes along bottom margin and 2 peg holes along top margin as produced. Original Graphite pencil art showing characters from 1934 Mickey Mouse cartoon including Mickey, Fifi the Dog and Donald Duck. Both Mickey and Donald are seen in policemens' uniforms with badges on their chests. Mickey is seen once, Donald has 6 full-body depictions, one showing him aiming gun. Dognap victim Fifi has 3 full-body images and 1 facial portrait. This is the third Disney short and the second Mickey Mouse short (first being the "Orphan's Benefit") that Donald Duck appeared in. Short was directed by David Hand and was released Nov. 17, 1934. This is among some of the earliest drawings produced of Donald Duck and is the second oldest known model sheet of him as no original artwork model sheets for Donald's second appearance have ever been found. Bottom left-hand margin has "Dognappers" working title which was later changed to "The Dognapper." Cartoon serial number "U.M.27" (United Artists Mickey Mouse No. 27). Sheet has even aging and shows lt. handling wear. Sheet is VF but art remains Exc. Unique and historically important. Great, early Donald Duck content. Model sheet comes with 2 original production drawings from "The Dognapper." Drawing #12 has 3x4.5" image area done in lead pencil with additional color pencil accents showing Mickey and Donald running. Drawing #26 has 2x4.5" image area done in lead pencil with additional color pencil movement affect lines. Drawing shows Mickey Mouse and Donald on motorcycle going in circles. Sheets have lt. aging and handling but art areas remain Exc. Also comes with phototstat copy of model sheet. See items 1673-1675 for additional production drawings.
