Oval albumin photograph on slightly larger and thicker mount. About 80% of a surrounding accent line shows with rest covered by upper frame edge. Clearly captioned on low edge "Grant And Colfax." Glass-covered open area is 5.75x7.75" tall. The frame appears to be 19th century and is 8x10x.75" thick. Scattered loss of the thin plaster covering over the wood and some gold old paint touch-ups. Stiff cardboard backing is original. Top has small cardboard pieces off rear corners and there are a pair of 1" tall wear spots on cardboard where an easel was once attached so the frame could stand. Overall frame is VG with slightly aged tone but extremely clean photo, about VF. Rare.
