Item Description
Both pieces are pen and ink on artist stiff illustration board. First is by known artist/cartoonist Ole May. The Bryan cartoon from 1908 is overall 15x18.5". Faint title on top margin "Dodging Through Not In Danger." Shows "Judge (George) Gray" a presidential hopeful opposed to Bryan's third presidential run. To left a raccoon says "Don't Duck! He Won't Let It Get Away." Above is Bryan as a Roman-like thunder God in "Jove/Bryan" helmet holding lightning bolts that read "Democratic/Nomination/Lightning." Moderate margin dust soil. Art area will display N. Mint. Newspaper name not known. Most stylish and exceptional. Unique. Second is large 17x20.75" but without left/right margins and with 1" tear lower right edge showing little. Used in unspecified newspaper, but shows "Ohio" state representative greeting "United Spanish American War Veterans." Large "William McKinley" portrait on the wall with title at top "To The Home State Of Your Commander-In-Chief." Above this cartoonist added "Welcome" in margin and bottom right "With Best Wishes To Fred Schenk" with his name below "Larry Keyes." About 5 faint small outlines of old tape marks but overall quite minor and displays nicely. Like the 1908 Bryan, from the same era. Pair of unique art pieces.
