Item Description
First two items are 8.5x11" typed letters signed in black ink on Smith's stationery. Both are to Mariano Lucca at Buffalo Evening News and dated in May, 1932. Contents of both reference material sent from Lucca to Smith. Noticeable but lt. tanning on the first, less obvious on the second. Small handling creases. Both Fine and display well. Third item is 4.25x5.25" stiff card captioned "Empire State Building/New York City." This is a thank-you for a birthday remembrance plus Best Wishes from Smith for coming year. Signed by Smith plus, in another hand, two small captions as to when sender (Lucca) sent birthday wishes to Smith (1/3/34). Four photos are each 7x9" glossies with back stamp "Associated Press Photo." Three still have caption sheets intact. Photos show: A) Smith getting law degree, most of caption gone, no date; B) Smith meets admirer in DC offices of Reconstruction Finance Corp. 2/9/33; C) Smith at funeral of Brooklyn Democratic political leader John McCovey with James Farley next to Smith 1/24/34; D) Smith and wife on Atlantic City boardwalk 4/23/34. Minor creases/ripples on the photos but clean. Couple minor archival tape repairs on the captions. Comes with Hake's COA.
