Item Description
12.5" tall nicely detailed carved wooden figure depicting full body image of Popeye complete with pipe in mouth. Marked "Muya" under foot. c. 1930s. Extremely detailed, complete with carved anchor "tattoos" on Popeye's forearms. Hairline crack down center of Popeye's shirt does not detract greatly from overall appearance. Aforementioned pipe was separately carved and glued in Popeye's mouth as produced. Fine. Unique. See Fleischer folk art figures SL-10884.
