Item Description
Lot of 4 separate 5-5/8x19.5" thin artboard strips, when combined, form 19.5x22.5" Apr. 9, 1950 Sunday page by Abner creator Al Capp. 11-panel story deals with Abner giving Big Barnsmell advice after being paid five hundred million dollars. Big Barnsmell decides he wants a girl, only to settle on Daisy Mae, much to Abner's chagrin. Second half of strip deals with Abner wooing Daisy Mae with flowers and discussing marriage. Second to last panel has United Features Syndicate Inc. paste-over. Capp has signed in black ink in last panel. Pen and ink with scattered white correctional fluid touch-ups. Great content. Abner appears in all but one panel, Daisy Mae in 6. Once full sheet, was separated into 4 separate tiers and later re-joined with tape, strips remain separate. Strips were cut by Capp for submission to syndication. Tape residue stains along margins, third strip having streaks of tape staining at top along text balloons, not affecting art images. Scattered aging/handling wear. VG/Fine.
