Auction #197 - Part I
Item numbers 1 through 991 in auction 197
Item Description
These large brass bugs with a 3.25" long stickpin on the underside were used on the saddle blankets of horses in 1896 campaign parades for McKinley. The center of the bug's back has about a dozen near pinpoint size shallow indents in the metal but this is very minor wear and the piece still has nice traces of original luster and is complete with all head parts and legs unbroken. Also see McKinley boot jack goldbug #20. Extremely fine and about the third example we've seen in this largest of all sizes with pins.
