Auction #197 - Part I
Item numbers 1 through 991 in auction 197
Item Description
Among the very earliest giant sized celluloids ever issued, this piece has a formed wire easel on its reverse so it will stand up for display. The metal reverse has an all over heavier than usual, but still thin, layer of oxidation. There are also two small areas of stain but both are on the extreme rim edges of the celluloid. The first is a series of 5 dark dots covering a 1" length on the upper left. The second is just a mere hairline of darker dots over a span about 1.5" long at the lower right but with just the very slightest bit of darker dots showing and hardly at all noticeable. The item remains a most attractive and still glossy example of an exceptionally large and impressive celluloid listed as Hake #3130 with a 2004 revised price value of $1,350. However, for an outstanding example, sales are known in excess of $4,000. Also see Taft 4" button #264 and Wilson 3.5" #275. Rare and still displaying VF.
