Auction #197 - Part I
Item numbers 1 through 991 in auction 197
Item Description
This rare 1.25" real photo without dot pattern is by an obscure maker in Baltimore, MD. The text reads "For President Alton Brooks Parker." Only button we can recall to spell out his middle name. The photo is of him wearing his judicial robe. The small white areas at the top and bottom of the celluloid are as made as the button was produced in 1904 by photographing a square format photo. In fact, on the lower curl edge, the words "Alton Brooks Parker" appear again as they were a caption below the original photograph used to produce the button photo. Backpaper is for the firm of "J.T. Shelby, Maker Of Photo Buttons/Badges/And Novelties" with an address on Lexington Street in Baltimore. N. Mint, displays Mint. Only example we've seen.
