Item Description
2.25" with caricature of the Shah of Iran whose mouth is designed with jail bars over captive people. Text below is "Open The Shah's Jails." At the top is the acronym "CAIFI" which stands for "Committee For Artistic And Intellectual Freedom In Iran." The button was issued by their New York City office. Button is from the 1976 era when the Shah's repression was a hot topic with discussion in New York papers such as the Village Voice and the Soho Weekly News. Pfeiffer's signature appears along the lower left edge. Rare and essentially Mint.
