Auction #197 - Part I
Item numbers 1 through 991 in auction 197
Item Description
This group largely dates from the 1930s until just prior to Pearl Harbor. The smallest is 5/8" and the only litho in the group reading "The Yanks Are Not Coming." The largest are the 1.25" buttons in rows 1 and 2. The first item in row 3 is a brass pin reading "Keep Us Out Of War." The last 2 items in row 3 are English. One reads "Wars Will Cease When Men Refuse To Fight." This has a little bluetone on the white letters at the center apparently as made and the piece does seem to be from the 1940 era. Likewise, the button next to it reading "Ballarat Council Against War." This shows a closed fist. Small bit of tan age dotting to the upper left of the fist and around the letter "R" of "WAR." Of the others, only "Keep U.S. Out of War," the second item in row 2, has some noticeable but light tan stain. The rest of the USA buttons are totally bright and clean and display Mint. All four in the top row are scarce. The last 2 in row 2 are for peace marches. The second and third in row 3 both reading "The Yanks Are Not Coming" are both scarce issues from the "Maritime" union. An Exc. group with a conservative opening bid.
