Item Description
11.5" square by 19" tall box holds 18" tall litho tin toy with an 11" dia. base. 1950s. Box contains illustrations of the toy in operation on 2 of the 4 sides. Top corners have tears and heavy creasing, one flap is off but here. VG. Toy has built-in key and works. When wound, 4 rocket cars revolve and swing out slightly. These tin litho cars, each containing figural head of boy and girl riders, are mounted on A-shaped wire frames braced with 1.5x2" tin litho panels depicting clowns. Cars also have thin plastic propellers. Three of the four have clear tape repairs but all are complete. Images on tower in center include ticket seller and children walking about. Base is marked with the "J. Chein" trademark shield. Aside from the aforementioned propeller repairs a bit of paint wear on sides of two of the rocket cars toy is in Exc. condition with virtually no wear. One of the classics of the carnival ride designed toys.
