Item numbers 992 through 2667 in auction 197
Item Description
12.5x21.5x5" deep box holds outstanding lithographed tin roller coaster toy. Made in Germany by Goso, early 1950s. Only markings on toy are DRGM/Dr. Pa. plus USA Pat. a, ENGL. Pat. a. Box has beautiful applied full color illustrated label signed by the artist "Jo. Meier." Label has few light stains at one corner and box lid has large vintage "SOLD" written on it but neither of these affect the charming image. Box bottom has scuffs, some tape repairs at one corner but still tight. Overall box displays Fine. Box contains fantastically engineered toy including two 15" towers, one of which contains wind-up mechanism to raise cars up to top level of tracks for entry. Two lithographed 4" gondola cars with passengers are included although one is missing one of the passengers. Toy is set up using enclosed 6x8" four-sided sheet with instructions in 3 languages. Sheet has heavy wear. Only Good but still readable. When toy is completely assembled using this sheet which has all parts numbered and we have followed this numbering sequence by placing post-its on the bottom of all the parts to assist in assembly, it is a gigantic 20x42" in size. Toy works well. Gondola cars have weighted wheels and upon raising up through the tower and entering the track each does a series of loops, cross-overs and back and forth motions and returns to the tower with the wind-up motor assisted elevator to start over again. Pieces have some play wear, nicks and scratches but overall Fine/VF. Great early 1950s toy. A joy to set up, operate and observe in operation.
