Item Description
12.25x22" high quality frame contains original pen and ink w/zipatone accents art that has been double-matted to 4x14". Aug. 1, 1978 daily strip by Garfield creator Jim Davis has ©1978 United Features Syndicate Inc. paste-over at bottom of first of 3 panels. Garfield is featured in each panel bemoaning the month of August "I Hate August. The Scorched Lawns, The Dust-Filled Lungs, Hayfever Season, The End Of Summer Vacation, The Unbearable Heat...Not To Mention Curdled Kitty Litter." Great early Garfield strip as he debuted less than 2 months prior to this strip being drawn. Art features Garfield in his early phase looking quite different from the way he looks today. Signed at bottom right corner of last panel by Davis. Strip is lightly aged but Exc. Garfield strip art is rare as most remains with it's creator Jim Davis and rarely comes up for sale. A few newer dailies recently sold in the $1,000 to $2,000 range.
