Item Description
12x16.5” cloth-bound hardcover with 16 color plates, 24 bw plates. By F.M. Howarth. Printed by E.P. Dutton & Co. 1899. Features cartoon strips and single panel cartoons by Howarth and important illustrator in late 19th and early 20th century cartoon history. Some strips contain stereotypical and non-politically correct themes. Illustrations in book appeared in “Puck” and are ©Keppler & Schwartzmann. Cover is slightly loose at spine but all pages remain firmly intact with the exception of one page which has a tear at bottom margin. Covers show lt. wear and soiling. Fine+ with VF/Exc. contents. Book comes with original brush and ink illustrations by Howarth on 4-7/8x7-7/8” page which has been folded twice horizontally. Howarth signed “Yours In Fun F.M. Howarth” to Mr. Albert Johannsen, Champaign, IL. Bright and clean. Exc./N. Mint.
