Item Description
Lot of 3 single panel political cartoons on thin illustration boards. Pen and ink w/charcoal. First is 13.75x15" titled "You Dance, I'm Tired" by "Washington D.C. Star" cartoonist Gibson Crockett. Depicts "U.S." hands manipulating tangled strings of "South Viet Nam" marionette who lays on ground waving hands away. Cartoon ran Dec. 4, 1964. Exc. Second cartoon is 9.75x12.5" titled "The Morale Boosters" and was done by "Waukegan IL. News-Suns" cartoonist Don Moore. Depicted are hippie/beatnik protesting couple, woman carrying "We Should Get Out Of Viet Nam" sign, man holding "It's Your Own Fault If You Get Killed" sign. Large image of U.S. soldier appears in bkg. c. late 1960s. Exc. Last cartoon is on thicker art board and is 13.5x17.5" and is by "Times Picayune" New Orleans cartoonist Keith Temple. Art depicts "Viet Cong Communist Aggression-Control" character and horseback-riding Ku Klux Klan member, Viet Cong holding torch w/"Terror" in flames, Klansman carrying burning cross w/"Terror" in flames to which Viet Cong replies "Good Weapons!" c. late 1960s. Exc.
