Item Description
7” dia. by 1.75” deep glazed china baby’s plate/bowl w/English company & Chaplin marks on bottom has 2 bw/color caricature images of Charlie Chaplin, one showing him hopping on one foot with “Charlie On the Hop” text, the other showing him with his hand up and “Charlie Salutes” text. Chaplin is depicted in both in his classic Little Tramp persona. c. 1918. Trace of wear to “Babies” text but word remains quite legible. A few tiny paint flakes to green rim accents. Plate remains glossy and Exc. An exceptional Chaplin item. Scarce. See Chaplin Paragon match safe and mug #1311 and #1312. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake’s COA.
