Item Description
Both c. 1960s. First is 8.5x11”. Photo of 10 men dressed as women with the front row holding baseball gloves and wearing cleats. The Cuties were created by Trino Palacios in 1946 on the Pacific Island of Guam to entertain American troops. Back stateside in ’48, he turned the act into a career. All manner of novelty teams were barnstorming around the continent in those days but playing in drag set the Cuties apart. Their heyday was the 50s and 60s. Faint vertical crease visible in reflected light, o/w photo is VF. 17.5” pennant. Original streamers. Interesting graphic of ball player in skirt. Pennant shows Lt. wear. Fine. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake’s COA.
