Lot of 4 (3 Jiggs, 1 Maggie). Jigg-sawed wooden depictions of the 2 main characters of Bringing Up Father. All are likely homemade, done in varying degrees of workmanship. First is a lesser quality depiction of Jiggs standing 33.5” tall and holding wooden plate/ashtray. Lt wear. VF. Next features nicer depiction of Jiggs, standing 35” tall and holding “Keep Smiling” metal ashtray which shows moderate chipping to enamel edges. 7/8” crack/repair to rim of Jiggs’ top hat brim. Still displays Fine. Nicest depiction of the lot is Jiggs who stands 32” tall and holds his top hat in front of him and shows no sign of ever having had an ashtray, likely made just for decoration. Exc. display. Last item in lot is 27” tall (to top of metal ashtray fixture on head) caddy depicting Maggie which is carved to give an embossed appearance. Maggie’s hand is meant to hold box of matches. Heavy paint wear and oxidation to metal ashtray on head. VG-. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake’s COA.
