Item Description
Cut from a flat sheet of brass about 1/16” thick, this piece is 1-7/8” tall by 3.25” long. Depicted is soldier with cartoon-style legs walking briskly as he carries a cane in one hand and smokes a pipe passing a road sign reading “Berlin” with an arrow pointing the direction he is going. Some enamel paint loss from his one shoe and the white paint representing dust clouds his fast walking is producing. Tiny paint loss on the “Berlin” sign but other paint accents on his helmet, bed roll, pipe and cane are intact. Nice gloss on the brass finish. Reverse has professionally constructed diagonal bar pin with a small safety guard tube to keep the pin locked in place. Very imaginative. From the Richard Merkin Collection. Comes with Hake’s COA. Only example we’ve seen.
