Following the 1934 Christmas success of the Mickey and Minnie hand car, Lionel had this version ready for Christmas, 1935. The box is very nicely illustrated on all sides featuring scenes of snow-covered town plus images of Santa traveling through the sky in this hand car. Box shows aging with some staple rust, 1" tear at top right corner. However, box remains tight and structurally sound. Displays Fine. The hand car is 9" long, painted metal while Santa and the Christmas tree attachments are painted composition. Santa is depicted with sack slung over his back and sticking out of this is Mickey Mouse. Small tin plate on one side reads "Mickey Mouse Santa Car." Set is complete with 8 curved track sections and key. Not working. One rear wheel has a small edge chip and small trace of red paint wear on back where key attaches. As both defects are on the back they do not affect appearance for display and o/w toy shows just the slightest trace of wear. Composition figures are exceptionally nice with just a couple of tiny paint rubs and one tiny nick on tree. Still displays Exc. and scarce with the box. From The Michael J. Stern Collection.
