Item Description
.5x11x15.75” tall. Painted composition. c. 1930s when radio was king. Raised text reads “Your Call Letters For Good Taste.” A large radio microphone appears on the metal stand behind the announcer’s sign with the raised letters “BPR” above the microphone. These are styled in such a fashion as to resemble the typical “CBS” or “NBC” letters that appeared on radio microphones of the day. The front of the base reads in embossed letters “The Baltimore Pure Rye Distilling Co., Dundalk, MD.” A 2” wide decal appears on the base top “Straight Rye Whiskey-90 Proof/Bottled In Bond-100 Proof/The Baltimore Pure Rye Distilling Co./Dundalk, MD/Copyright 1939.” Decal on back of base reads “Harry G. Corbett Inc. Advertising Displays New York, N.Y.” A crack 2.5” long appears on back of base above manufacturer decal, not affecting overall appearance. Announcer’s hand is cracked at the wrists but held into position with an original support wire. Not offensive. Lt. crazing to black paint on tuxedo/signs. A bold expression of delight is seen on the announcer’s face. Silver luster remains on the microphone with possible professional touch-ups. A real eye catcher.
