Item Description
12x14” overall. 7.5x9.5” image. Late 1890s-early 1900s. Photo taken at Idlewood Amusment Park, Richmond, Viginia. Wonderful posed photo of shooting gallery with man, woman and child posed with rifles. Seven “UMC Club Shells” ammunition signs appear in the photo. These shells were made by Remington c. 1900. Three rows of “punks” appear on left. “Punks” refers to a wide array of canvas-covered, brightly-painted figures used in carnival skill games requiring the player to knock them over with a ball. Mount text reads “Foster/Richmond”. Mount has tack holes in middle of top and bottom edge, lt. age spotting. Fine. Wonderful image is Exc. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake’s COA.
