Item Description
First is lot of 10 photo post cards. Nine feature Billy Sunday plus 1 of Mrs. Billy Sunday. c. 1908-1912. Next is 4x6” overall card holding 2x2.75” real photo of Sunday with text “Tabernacle Ushers Organization/Banquet In Honor Of Our Guest/Billy Sunday/March 1st, 1915.” Back mark from Shaw, Philadelphia. Bright, glossy photo. Attached with blue ribbon. Next is 2x8” two-sided paper ribbon. Crepe paper bow is attached to top. One side in large letters reads “Springfield, O.” Other side has lengthy text starting with “Billy Sunday/Springfield To Columbus/Jan. 9, 1913.” Lengthy text gives event goers detailed instructions as to how to get off of the (train) cars at Columbus “Do Not Rush For The Stairs, But Quietly Wait Your Turn To Follow The Column/Led By The Band, Forming By Twos…” Tanned with age. Next is 1.25” button with text “Billy Sunday Meeting, Trenton, N.J./Jan. 19th, 1916 IOOF.” Generic red ribbon is attached. Oddfellows symbols appear in center. Made by Keystone Badge. Exc. Next is “Sunday Tabernacle” usher badge. Brass. Text around hanger reads “Wm. A. Sunday Campaign/April-May-June-New York.” Top bar has pin on back to hold ribbon (missing). Last is 1.5” long stickpin reading “Loyal/Temperance/Legion.” An interesting group for an interesting and influential man. Numerous rarities.
