Item Description
2-1/8" listed as Hake #3131 with 2004 revised price value of $1,450. The button's celluloid surface is very slightly concave as made. There are 3 very small surface marks on an otherwise unblemished gorgeous color design. On the upper edge just above Liberty's hair there is a tiny 1/16" raised cello bump which has just the slightest pale gray tone to it. The other 2 marks are even smaller, and near microscopic. These consist of a pinpoint nick or air bubble on Liberty's hip at left and a shallow pinpoint indent on one of the red flag stripes at the upper right of the Fairbanks oval. The rest of the piece has almost no surface wear even in reflected light and greatly exceeds the visual condition of the typical example, although we've seen only a few examples in this large size. Backpaper has small text with name of maker W&H but with larger text of the jobber with their New York address as well as their company name "The Political Equipment And Manufacturing Co." Overall button remains a gorgeous example of one of the finest designs ever and it is complete with high gloss and perfect centering.
