Auction #200 - Part I
Item numbers 1 through 1186 in auction 200
Item Description
22.5x26.5” overall. 21.75x25.75” image area holds 18.5x22” tall die-cut cardboard sign. Small text at bottom reads “Los Angeles, California 1923.” Window sign for stores. Most likely dry cleaners, laundries that took in hats for this cleaner. Text reads “Agency For Schaefer Hat Works/Have Your Hat ‘Schaeferized’/A Special Process/Largest Hat Renovators In The West.” Great illustration of satisfied customer walking proudly in suit holding cigar. Colors appear slightly faded. Scattered handling creases, not offensive. Fine. Professionally framed - frame sides are 1.25” deep with .5” deep recessed area so sign does not touch glass. Exc. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake’s COA.
