Lot of 2, both c. 1915. Both are softcover with string binding. Both consist of 6.5x8.5” color paper photos applied to right side page with captions below.These books have many breathtaking scenic views and were produced to be sold as souvenirs and to entice others to come and explore the South and West. First is 9x11.75”. “The Overland Trail/From The Golden Gate To The Great Salt Lake/Along The Southern Pacific-The Road Of A Thousand Wonders.” Applied color image on cover reads “Crossing Great Salt Lake At Sunset.” Gold luster highlights remain bright. Western theme illustrations appear on right and left of applied image. One full page text with title “Description Of Views/Explanation Of Subjects Illustrated.” Subjects include San Francisco, Fairy Boat Contra Costa, Dixon California, Sacramento, Orange Grove, train travel in American California, snow sheds in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, Donner Lake and Lake Tahoe. Book comes with original tattered mailing envelope. Good, but envelope has protected the cover and contents of this book resulting in only st. traces of age to cover which still displays Fine. Contents remain bright, colorful and N. Mint. Second is “The Sunset Route/From El Paso To Los Angeles.” 9.5x12” softbound. Similar idea to other book, both having 24 color paper photos applied to right side of each page with caption below. This has 2 pages titled “Explanation Of Views Illustrated.” Pictures include: El Paso Bridge, Juarez, Mexico, Old Dominion Mine, several of the “Apache Trail,” many mountain and desert scenes, Tucson Depot, Yuma, Arizona, San Bernardino, San Gabriel Mission, Indian Head Mountain, Arizona, etc. One page is devoted to “Southern Pacific Lines” map of the US. Cover shows moderate age/handling wear. Cover VG. Contents bright, clean, N. Mint.
