Item Description
3.5x5.5”. Postally cancelled 1910. Printed/tinted indoor photo of team in uniform with ball caps and gloves. The Oxford Indians of Oxford, Nebraska were formed around 1909 and perhaps hoped to repeat the success of the Greens Nebraska Indians. It appears that this group of ‘Indians’ included a fair representation of whites as seen in this postcard. Postcards of this team in traditional Indian attire were also produced, but this one is rarer and more desirable team photo in baseball uniforms, not traditional dress. Printed in Fremont, Nebraska. Postmarked from Oxford, Nebraska. Photo centered to top. Very lt. aging. VF. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake’s COA.
