Item Description
5.5x13.75x2" deep box contains complete and rather elaborate windup toy by Kuramochi & Co., Japan. 1930s. Box has nicely illustrated label on the lid featuring the boy and girl from this windup toy. Illustrated instruction sheet is attached on inside of lid and has .25" dia. hole at one corner. Lid has 1.5" split at top edge o/w box remains tight and clean. Complete w/cardboard insert. VF. Toy has an assembled size of 4x9.5x11" tall. The "stage" consists of a metal frame w/windup mechanism that has built-in key, tin litho swinging platform base decorated w/abstract flower designs and a cardboard stage topper w/marquee design and fabric trim. This reads "A Trick Puppet Pinocchio On The Swinging Stage." The two celluloid figures are each about 5" tall and have strings and hooks which attach to a metal bar that runs across the top of the stage frame. Girl is in dress and holds tambourine w/fabric tassel accent while boy is in clown outfit and plays guitar. Toy works and the stage platform swings back and forth as do the figures. The fabric material on left side of stage topper is split but the toy is o/w essentially N. Mint. Great design.
