Item Description
4.5x8x8" tall elaborately designed tin litho toy comes in box w/graphic and colorful lid. 1950s by Yonzawa, Japan. Lid features three different scenes and all of these are shown in our photo. Lt. box wear, a few very ft. edge creases but bright and VF. Toy features 5.5" tall Professor Al standing atop platform base in front of a blackboard. On top of the blackboard is a clock and next to it is an open window showing chipmunk and deer. Doll has hard plastic beak, hard rubber hands, one holding a pointer. Front of base depicts animals at school looking up at the Professor. Great scene on the back panel of the toy depicting animals gathered around the front of the "Forest School" as the Professor stands in the doorway. Toy comes complete w/pair of 7.5" dia. two-sided tin litho question/answer disks and an instruction sheet. Each disk features a different theme on each side and consists of six illustrations and six matching words naming that specific object. The themes are transportation/fruit, animals/flowers. Each disk is inserted into the backdrop so that individual words and images are visible through a diecut opening on the blackboard. Toy works and owl turns forward as if looking at the students, shakes his head, opens and closes his beak as a squeak is produced and points at the students w/his pointer. He also points to the blackboard as the images/names rotate one at a time. The outer rim edge of one disk (transportation side) has some hairline scratches, none of which is visible when this disk is in place. The instruction sheet has lt. aging. Toy is N. Mint. An exceptional battery toy.
