Item Description
9-1/8x12” 16-page French publication dated Mar. 22, 1917. “La Baionnette 90.” Great caricature image of Charlie Chaplin in his Little Tramp persona on front cover with French text “Charlot Correspondant de Guerre,” which loosely translates to “Chaplin War Correspondent.” Magazine is loaded with interesting illustrations showing Chaplin, often with large hammer expressing anti-German sentiments, large and colorful centerfold depicts a grotesque Chaplin wearing his signature bowler cap with imperial German spike coming out the top of it and sporting up-turned German mustache as opposed to his usual tiny one. Back cover shows grotesque image of Kaiser Wilhelm II holding a copy of this publication. Issue shows moderate wear/aging with age spotting to cover and wear at spine. VG/Fine with Fine pages. First we’ve seen. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
